Hop Harvest means fresh hop beer season is HERE!

IMG-6038-2.jpg

As summertime starts to wind down, the kids are heading back to school, football season is underway — AND hop harvest commences!

August and September is what the craft beer industry lives for. One of the most important ingredients is being harvested and we’ve got a front row seat!

We have had the pleasure of working with Gooding Farms in Parma, Idaho for the past 10 years. Each year during harvest, our brewers head out to Parma (just a 45 minute drive from the Brewery) to retrieve the hops immediately after they are picked from the field to use in a batch that same day. As fresh as you can get!

FUN FACT

Did you know that Idaho is the 2nd largest hop producer in the nation? Did you also know that the Southwestern region of Idaho is the main hop production source?

Gooding Farms has 900 acres and 12 varieties of hops, including one proprietary called, “Idaho Gem”. Family owned and operated, they have been producing world renowned hops since 1895.

GET BREWIN’

Once we get these fresh hops back to the Brewery, they begin hauling them to the top of the brew deck. Each 50lb bag is then thrown directly into the tank to begin brewing! Much like using fresh produce, using fresh hops adds fresher, brighter and more intense flavor and aroma — what’s not to love?! The brewing process continues on like normal after the fresh hops are added to the brew!

SOFA KING FRESH // Fresh Hop IPA

Sofa King Fresh is not far behind, this brew is loaded with floral aroma that will make you smile, a dash of tropical flavor and tantalizing grassy notes — predominantly from the fresh off the field El Dorado hops from Gooding Farms.

Keep an eye out for this fresh beauty to drop October 1st!

Don’t miss out on fresh hop season, it only comes once a year!
