13 years of fueling Idaho’s adventures

Thanks to you, we like to think there’s not a single Idaho trail, river, or campground that hasn’t been visited by a cracked-open can of a Payette beer over the last THIRTEEN years. This gem-state, full of wonder, opportunity, and exploration, is the reason we are here today. And boy, do we have some stories to tell.

To Mike and Paige Francis, owners of Payette Brewing Company, “Adventure Ready” beer means quality beer that is ready to grab for your next adventure, be it to take on a hike, down the river with you on a raft trip, when hitting the slopes, or as a refreshing end to an epic mountain bike ride. That also means beer in a can, a novel concept when they opened in 2010.

Payette Brewing Company is made up of a team who are on a mission to make beer worth sharing and celebrating. Payette has won many awards across Idaho, specifically being voted “Best Brewery” in the Boise Weekly poll each year since 2012.

Philanthropy is one of Payette’s core values. They give back to the community through a number of outlets, including “Kegs 4 Kause” which supports local non-profits each week with a percentage of the sales in the Tap Room as well as Payette Forward where tens of thousands of dollars have been been donated to nonprofits across the state and nation for worthy and important causes such as disaster relief, funding for ALS research, etc.

Located along the Boise River in Downtown Boise, the Tap Room is open seven days a week and offers twenty beers on tap, local wine and cider, non-alcoholic options, merchandise for sale and a wide variety of beer to-go. Just outside the Tap Room, the Beer Garden is your year-round go-to place to enjoy quality craft beer with friends. Spend time around the firepit, play yard games or bocce ball, and enjoy the food trucks all under a shaded, grassy area. Not to mention, it is also kid and dog friendly, features local and regional bands, as well as our very own hop garden! (Check out the Tap Room HERE)

Beer Pioneer

Mike Francis left corporate life as an industrial engineer at Boeing Co. in Seattle to engineer some industry of his own. After receiving an Associate's Degree in Brewing Technology from Chicago's Siebel Institute of Technology, followed by a stint at Schooner Exact Brewing in Seattle, Mike headed to his home turf of Boise in 2010 to establish Payette Brewing Company. Payette opened in 2011 and is proud to celebrate 13 years of beer!

Living Up To Our Name

We chose the name Payette because it fits the way we live and work. François Payette was a French Canadian trapper whose name and memory is enshrined among numerous Idaho landmarks. The name has since become synonymous with an adventurous spirit that pervades Idaho's year-round outdoor lifestyle. Not to mention, we are whitewater junkies with our favorite river right outside our door, the Payette River!
