TAP ROOM MANAGER

JOB OVERVIEW: The Tap Room Manager leads the operations of the Tap Room and is a principal brand ambassador who can genuinely relate Payette’s story to our guests and serves as the liaison between brewery production, sales, and marketing to ensure our product can reach thirsty beer drinkers. This individual works closely with our Warehouse Supervisor, Marketing Manager, various community organizations and, of course, our retail customers. The Tap Room Manager will report to the Owner/Founder and will be responsible for relaying information to Tap Room staff.

The Tap Room Manager must be able to handle the management of a high volume bar and fast paced environment. They must execute projects and achieve goals through timely, relevant and effective communications and programs designed to continue to grow the Payette brand and deliver the highest level of service to our customers. Expected to take initiative to deliver new ideas that ensure company messages are consistent and drive a culture of adventurous spirit and collaboration.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

TAP ROOM MANAGEMENT & CLEANLINESS:

  • Execute and maintain a clean, organized, well stocked, safe, equipment functioning Tap Room, Beer Garden and building exterior.

  • Work closely with Tap Room staff to ensure that the shifts not only start out and end on a clean note, but ensure this is maintained and managed throughout the day.

  • Get behind the bar and work around the Tap Room and Beer Garden as needed when it is busy to help as well as manage with a lead-by-example approach. 

  • Manage a high volume bar and fast paced environment with a problem solving and positive attitude.

STAFFING AND SHIFT MANAGEMENT:

  • Manage and supervise all Tap Room staff.

  • Hold consistent meetings to communicate with the Tap Room staff.

  • Train Tap Room staff members on BEER: Payette beers, beer styles, brewing process, off flavors, cicerone.

  • Train Tap Room staff members on PAYETTE: Our story/history, the co-workers and job roles, the Payette tone of voice.

  • Overall training of Tap Room staff on our high standards of beer knowledge, cleanliness, and customer service.

  • Establish and maintain customer service standards for all bar staff.

  • Manage Tap Room binder and pre-shift has adequate information.

  • Assist in the development of the Tap Room budget and ensure all bar related financial goals are met (Revenue, COGS, Labor, etc.)

  • Manage the Tap Room staff’s eTIPS certifications / ensure all are up to date.

INVENTORY & POINT OF SALE:

  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for draft and packaged beer, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks and price items properly.

  • Do inventory at the end of every month for all items we sell and use in the Tap Room.

  • Ensure Toast (point of sale system) is always current and accurate.

  • Set up new beer, wine, cider, non-alcoholics, snacks and merchandise into Toast before the release date.

  • Have a clear understanding of Toast and make sure the Tap Room staff knows how to properly work it.

  • Help problem solve and assure our system runs smoothly.

  • Make sure existing merchandise items are stocked and displayed nicely. (Marketing team will pick out items, order, re-order, and management of inventory levels.)

  • Update Doordash with new items: keep up to date with available products, item photos and descriptions

BEER KNOWLEDGE AND QUALITY:

  • Have a desire to know everything there is to know about the beers offered.

  • Understand BA draft beer quality guidelines through their manual.

  • Understand the importance of presentation, temperature, and storage as it aligns with Payette’s standard of quality.

  • Understand draft line cleaning - how often it should be done and the proper procedures.

COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Maintain a high level of communication with multiple departments.

  • Coordinate with food trailers.

  • Work closely with Warehouse Supervisor on beer ordering and inventory.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager on events and promos to make sure they are well staffed, etc.

  • Work closely with the CEO on revenue, budgets, COGS, etc.

  • Schedule regular staff meetings and maintain clear and consistent communication.

SUPPLIES:

  • Work closely with Cintas to assure we are well stocked with bar necessities.

  • Order Tap Room specific items when needed: bar mats, glassware, signage, beer garden game equipment, bags for merchandise, etc.

  • Do inventory at the end of every month of beer, wine, cider, non-alcoholics, snacks and merchandise and enter into Toast.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-5 years of managerial experience (Bar/Service Industry Management is a bonus!)

  • A strong passion for craft beer!

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking and maintaining composure in high pressure situations.

  • Lead by example. Demonstrate success of working independently and part of a team.

  • The ability to have flexible hours, including evening and weekend shifts as merited.

  • The ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs with assistance if necessary.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Full-time position $22+ per hour, depending on experience.

  • Work in a rad environment, alongside even rad-er people!

  • PTO accrued each calendar year, starting at a rate of 10 days/year. 5 days PTO awarded on first day of employment.

  • Health care coverage for self and eligible dependents available the first day of employment. Payette pays 50% of monthly premium.

  • Dental and Vision insurance is available, employee pays 100% of the premium.
